There is a day-time shelter for homeless men over the age of 45 that operates in the basement of Holy Trinity, and the Archdiocese appears completely indifferent to its continuance, as well as the continuance of the Latin Mass.

The noble suffering of this woman, like our Holy Father's suffering, is a wonderful echo of the suffering of Christ on the Cross and a lesson in the dignity of suffering and the value of human life: so long as the battle is ultimately won, and that she continues to be fed until she dies a natural death.
But if the battle is lost, it will usher in a tidal wave of "assisted suicides," judicial murders, and "right to die" legislation that will advance the cause of the culture of death to the point where it will be impossible to stop.

It is over the issue of homosexual ordination/gay "marriage", with the rest of the world communion taking on the liberals in the US, Europe, and Canada.
Personally, I think they will end up papering it over, but more of the most devout and serious Anglicans/Episcopalians will swim the Tiber because of this process of turning that sect into a richer version of the Univeralist/Unitarians.

He does not have to. As Dom says, if the Holy Father is incapacitated, he is incapacitated. Canonizations, new documents, and new episcopal appointments would grind to a halt, but Mass would be said everywhere around the world, even in St. Peter's, the sacraments administered, the Gospel preached. The work of the Church would go on, and is going on now.
There is nothing that pressing on the agenda of the Church that can't wait for an old man to die with dignity, even if that process takes years. And it is not as if, in the entire history of the Church we have not had elderly popes incapacitated before. It has probably happened many times.
It is only this age of instant communications and instant gratification, as well as worship of youth and impatience at old age that finds the situation intolerable.

Things Are Not Going Well In the Cause of Anglican Amity

As much as we would like to keep every parish open, it does not appear that it is going to happen.
And my sympathy with the tactics (though not the arguments, and genuiness of conviction) of these old ethnic parishes is wearing thin.
St. Joseph's Polish parish in Peabody's Wilson Square has been closed for years now, but the neighborhood still hosts many "Save St. Joseph's" bumperstickers and signs. You sometimes see a guy with a sign walking around in front of it.
The people at St. John the Baptist in Salem are very nice, as is their pastor. But they pulled some pretty slimey back-room maneuvers to keep the Salem cluster from even considering closing their poorly-attended church.
At this point, I say Archbishop Burke is the guy who is calling the shots. He can close any Catholic parish he wants to. When you are Catholic, you obey what the local ordinary tell you to do when it is a matter pertaining to the faith, including the administration of the Archdiocese (within reasonable mattes, of course). Archbishop Burke walked into this situation, and is just doing the job he is appointed to. Cut him some slack here, and obey.

It Is Going To Snow Again Tonight
This winter is seemingly endless, even though it began fairly mildly. Another 3-6 inches tonight, and the possibility of a much larger storm early next week.

St. Blog's is rallying in excellent fashion to try to prevent the judicial murder of Terri Schiavo by her estranged husband.
I've been a little distracted the last few days, and have not been focusing on this, but with recent court rulings, I'm not sure what can be done.
