A Sixty-Fourth Wedding Anniversary
Sixty-four years ago today, April 10, 1946, George T. and Kathryn A. were married, during Lent, in the sacristy of Sacred Heart Church in Malden, MA, shortly after my father's discharge from the Army. Dad died on December 31st, 1989, at the age of 69, and Mum at 75 on September 23rd, 1998.
O God, Who hast commanded us to honour our father and our mother, in Thy mercy have pity on the souls of my father George and my mother Kathryn, and forgive them their trespasses, and make me to see them again in the joy of everlasting light. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end.
Amen.
V. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
R. Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
V. Requiescant in pace.
R. Amen.
Please, in your charity on this Easter Friday, remember my parents in your prayers.

Our Blessed Lady's Saturday
Amen.

Friday At the Foot Of the Cross
Penitential Prayer of St. Augustine
O Lord,
The house of my soul is narrow;
enlarge it that you may enter in.
It is ruinous, O repair it!
It displeases Your sight.
I confess it, I know.
But who shall cleanse it,
to whom shall I cry but to you?
Cleanse me from my secret faults, O Lord,
and spare Your servant from strange sins.

Two Days Without A Blog Post!!!
OK, call off the bloodhounds. I have a cold and have been busy with a project.
I have wanted to encourage readers to pray with especial diligence and love for our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI. The forces of so-called progressive ideas in the Church and out of it are making a concerted effort to damage his image and perhaps bring down his papacy.
I don't think it is a coincidence that all this nonsense surfaced after the Holy Father administered a well-deserved wigging to his former pupil, the Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna, for his unwise semi-endorsement of the goings on at Medugjorge. For the record, I don't think that Our Blessed Lady is genuinely appearing to anybody there, and that this whole circus there is the work of the Enemy. I gather that is what the Holy Father, and the last two bishops of Mostar think, as well.
More on that later.
What else have we missed? The Red Sox have begun playing baseball, but the much-touted pitching staff didn't seem up to the occasion, as we lost 2 of the first 3 to the hated Yankees, though all the games were very close. Big deep catcalls to ESPN and Major League Baseball for forcing Opening Day to become Opening Night, and keeping me up until midnight watching that first game. And having the first game scheduled for Easter Sunday! Scandalous and not good.
And, also during Lent, ObamaCare passed Congress. Pray for a Republican sweep in November, and a thorough roll-back of this powergrab by government.
Meanwhile, bask in the joy of the Resurrection. Enjoy the spring-like weather, which finally arrived in time for Easter, so that forsythia and daffodils were in bloom just in time for the great feast. Yesterday, it was practically summerish, hitting 90 degrees.

Easter Sunday 2010
Happy Easter!
He is truly risen! Alleluia!
All the pain and sacrifice of Lent is over. Good Friday is behind us, as is the wait of Holy Saturday.
May Easter joy be with you and your families!
Haec dies, quam fecit Dominus:
Exsultemus, et laetemur in ea.
Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus:
Quoniam in saeculum misericordia ejus.

V. Dominus vobiscum.
R. Et cum spiritu tuo.
V. Sursum corda.
R. Habemus ad Dominum.
V. Gratias agamus Domino Deo nostro.
R. Amen
Remember, we begin using a new Marian Antiphon at the end of the day's Office, and the same Antiphon replaces the Angelus:
Regina, caeli, laetare, Alleluia:
Quia quem meruisti portare, Alleluia,
Resurrexit sicut dixit, Alleluia.
Ora pro nobis Deum, Alleluia.
V. Gaude et laetare, Virgo Maria, Alleluia,
R. Quia surrexit Dominus vere, Alleluia.
Oremus
Amen.
Victimae Paschali
laudes immolent Christiani.
Agnus redemit oves:
Christus innocens Patri
reconciliavit
peccatores.
Mors et vita duello
conflixere mirando:
dux vitae mortuus,
regnat vivus.
Dic nobis Maria,
Quid vidisti in via?
Sepulcrum Christi viventis,
et gloriam vidi resurgentis:
Angelicos testes,
sudarium et vestes.
Surrexit Christus spes mea:
praecedet suos in Galilaeam.
Scimus Christum surrexisse
a mortuis vere:
Tu nobis, victor Rex miserere.
Amen. Alleluia.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Pascha nostrum immolatis est Christus.
He is truly risen! Alleluia!
