Ember Alert!
The Whitsun Embertide is almost upon us! Ember Days are penetential days of fasting, abstinence, extra prayer, and almsgiving.
Usually Ember Days are in preparation for a major feast, coming before it. But the Whitsun Embertide comes after the feast. Unless it is in preparation for Trinity Sunday and Corpus Christi, which are next week.

Remember, It's Ember
Gaudete Sunday brings to mind that this coming Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday constitute the Advent Embertide, days of special fasting, abstinence, prayer, and almsgiving in preparation for the coming of the Lord at Christmas.
